In America, we’ve lost the right to be born, the right to practice our faith without government dictate or penalty, the right to proclaim moral sanity in the public square, and now the right to due process of law against a president who thinks he literally can pull the trigger and execute fellow citizens at his whim.
Who’s Next?
In a bizarre “legal memo”, President Obama has asserted that he can target and assassinate Americans – at will – simply on his belief that they are subversives.
The memo’s specific focus is Americans who President Obama has unilaterally concluded are affiliated with al-Qaida (not that this makes it right), but its rationale and justification can now be applied to anyone else who he likewise concludes is a non-combatant subversive.
America was once a great nation, ruled by law under a Constitution that was consciously written to embody a Judeo-Christian worldview.
The bedrock of our constitutional republic – rooted in Biblical principles articulated by men like James Madison and his mentor John Witherspoon – was the liberty to pursue virtue by imposing checks and balances against the evil of unrestrained government power.
I’m not saying we are, or ever were, a “Christian nation” – and I’m not naïve about past problems. America was never perfect, but during most of our history we had a moral compass – and a constitutional framework – that helped us even in our imperfections.
Now, through silence, we have discarded our founding ideals and increasingly become slaves to the tyranny of postmodern relativism – and its inevitable necessity of ever-growing, centralized power to enforce its self-justifying “anything goes” philosophy.
Moral and ethical relativism always lead to government tyranny because they cast off all external standards – except for the absolute standard that there absolutely must be no standards.
Relativism often takes hold when people of good will and moral conviction become confused and silenced by those who say they have no right to impose their beliefs on others, or that they shouldn’t compromise themselves with the messy reality of politics and the civic arena.
But someone’s beliefs will always prevail and become the basis for our laws and national policies – even if it is the belief that there are no moral principles and we need unrestrained government power to enforce that belief. See the Fulcrum Declaration.
There is no such thing as moral neutrality – someone’s morality will always form the basis for our national laws and policies, even if it is the “morality” of immorality and the necessity of unrestrained power to enforce it.
History is full of examples of relativism leading to ever-increasing tyranny. Now, America is becoming yet another tragic warning to others who doubt the wisdom of liberty rooted in a Judeo-Christian worldview.

I think (or feel) that the phrase “judeo-christian” is to small. I have long wanted to find the pillars of faith we share with our muslim brothers and sisters. There surely must be something we have in common and can build on!
As a foreigner I had to look up the word “subversive” and I wonder about if Obama can target and assasinate Americans at will …. just a matter of speech, isn´t it? You did´n really mean that, did you?

Yes, I did. As an attorney (now retired), I read the legal memo and that’s what it comes down to after you strip out all the justifying rhetoric.

This is why withdrawing from the culture makes no kingdom sense for any true believer. We are in the world and not of the world. Salt and light are of no use among themselves – needed in the food and in darkness respectively. When we have an ‘abandonment’ mentality – the enemy wrecks more havoc and expands his kingdom on the earth – reducing the potentials for increase of the kingdom of God. If we are salt of the earth and light of the world – how can we be a flavor in what we are not in or useful light; if we only stay where there is light?
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. I don’t know what is more sad; the fact that Obama did this or that there isn’t rioting in the streets in protest. If your an American citizen, you have a right to a trail; even if you are a terrorist. We have the Republicans to blame for this as they started us down the slippery slope with the implementation of the Patriot Act.

I totally agree. This is not a partisan issue. The Bush administration clearly started us down this slippery slop, and the Obama administration is continuing the slide.
