Make a Name

November 22, 2013 600 × 400 in Itchy Ears
To gain a name among naïve Christians: Take a legitimate, simple truth and make it complicated. Avoid making it work in your own life, while making it essential for others. Write books and blogs, and organize conferences, to push your unproven, cookie-cutter ideas on how to do it — while hiding your own history of failure. When that falls flat, write about some new superfluous ideas. After all, there's always a market for itchy ears. Take your pick: "hyper grace", "emergent", "missional", deeper life", "organic church", "house2house", "apostolic workers" ... whatever.

Keepin’ it real…
